Greetings, Everyone!
Here we are on the back end of summer, already beginning to look toward fall. Before the season turns, I wanted to share a few updates—some things that have finally come to fruition, a new face sharing my office space, and a little of what’s ahead...
📚 A Longtime Project Comes to Life

Many of you have followed my writing over the past few years, so I wanted to share a milestone with you. After a long journey of writing, revising, photographing, designing, and proofing, my two massage manuals are finally complete, including new coil-bound editions designed for use right at the massage table.
These books grew out of years of working with clients, teaching partners and friends, and exploring how intentional therapeutic touch can help us slow down, connect, and care for one another. My hope is that they make massage feel approachable, enjoyable, and accessible to anyone who would like to learn.
My Massage Manuals

Integrative Swedish Massage with Acupressure: The Complete Step-by-Step Manual for Partners and Friends
A comprehensive full-color guide that teaches a complete Swedish massage enhanced with acupressure techniques. Designed for partners, friends, and beginners, it includes detailed instruction, anatomical illustrations, flow charts, photographs, safety guidance, and supporting reference material.

Integrative Swedish Massage with Acupressure: A Step-by-Step Companion Guide for Partners and Friends
A streamlined companion guide designed for quick reference while giving or receiving a massage. Its simplified format follows the same sequence as the Complete Manual, making it easy to keep beside the massage table and follow step by step.
Available through:
• My website — coil-bound editions designed to lie flat during use, plus digital editions and additional resources
• Amazon — paperback and Kindle editions

Meet Nathan Toben, LMBT
Some of you may have already noticed another massage therapist working in the office on Thursdays. Nathan has 15 years of experience racing ultramarathons and working as a professional Physical Educator and Endurance Coach.
The mentors of his life have been individuals who synthesize scientific information with physical practices of incremental change. Running Cedar follows in their footsteps by anchoring treatment plans in the truthful conceptions of adaptation, compensation, homeostasis, and continuity of client-focused care.
If you'd like to learn more about Nathan or schedule an appointment with him, you can reach him directly:

✍🏼 From Robin's Desk
As many of you know, I enjoy revisiting my older essays from time to time. Recently, I updated one that has become especially meaningful to me:
Originally published in September 2022, this was the first essay in which I introduced The Face Cloud. Looking back, I realize it also marked the beginning of many of the ideas that continue to shape my work today—self-regulation, intentional therapeutic touch, creating calming environments, and somatic awareness (learning to listen more closely to what the body is already telling us).
One addition I'm especially excited about is a new feature at the end of the essay called From Robin's Bookshelf. There you'll find a curated collection of books, articles, and resources that have inspired my thinking over the years. If you decide to read the essay, be sure to scroll to the bottom—I hope you'll enjoy exploring those resources as much as I enjoyed putting them together.
This fall I'll also be revisiting another topic that has fascinated me for years: the gut–brain connection, intuition, and the remarkable conversation continually taking place between the mind and body.
Until then, I wish you a peaceful end to summer and a gentle transition into Fall.
Warmly,
Robin
